In relation with LEP, IBT was established to provide students from Malaysia and its neighbouring countries a centre to attain comprehensive proficiency in the Japanese Language.
It is the only private higher educational institution recognized and approved by both:
# The Malaysian Ministry of Education
# The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho)

Recognition
for conducting Pre-U Programme to enter universities / colleges / vocational schools in Japan.

In Japan there are about 400 Japanese Language institutions, however among them only 18 Japanese Language institutions are recognized by Monbukagakusho as Pre-U centres. IBT is the first and only Pre-U Centre to be awarded this prestigious recognition overseas (outside of Japan).

Significance of Recognition
To be admitted into universities / colleges / vocational schools in Japan, students are required to have completed at least 12 years of formal education (UEC / STPM / A-Level). Students who have only 10 or 11 years of formal education (SPM / O-Level) after completion of their secondary education, are required to attend the 12 months / 18 months Pre-U Programme offered by IBT to complete the 12 years formal education requirement. Students are advised NOT to join Japanese Language schools that are NOT recognized by Monbukagakusho as they will not be able to enter Japanese universities / colleges /vocational schools upon completion of their Japanese Language course.
